Edits / Instagram for Creators / Stories
Stories are quick and casual, and Edits is Instagram's own free editor. Edit a clip with captions and audio, then, as reported, send it straight to your Story from the export menu, with no watermark.
Stories are quick, casual and gone after a day. Edits was built around Reels, but Adam Mosseri announced that you can now export directly from Edits to Instagram Stories. A report says a Stories option appears in the export menu next to Instagram, Facebook, Send message and Download, and that it sends your video to the Story editor.
It is reported as rolling out gradually, and one report describes it as iOS only, so you may not see it yet. The More menu reportedly lets you share a finished project to Instagram as a Reel, a Story, a DM or a feed post.
Tip: Stories are watched fast. Put the message in the first second, and use captions. Not sure which to post? See Reels vs Stories.
The steps follow a report on the iOS rollout. Menu names may differ in your version.
Get the latest version from the App Store or Google Play so you have any new share options.
Trim, add captions, text and audio. Keep it short.
Name the project, check the resolution and frame rate, then tap Export.
Choose the Stories option. Your video opens in the Story editor, where you add stickers and publish.
No Stories button? Try the More menu, or download the video and add it from Instagram's Story camera roll.
Free, no watermark, with a teleprompter camera and captions.
