Edits / Comparisons / Edits vs InVideo Filmr
Filmr is the quick, playful mobile editor that InVideo made popular: shoot in 4K 60 with both cameras at once, trim, add music, text and stickers, share to five apps from one screen - free with a watermark, Pro to remove it. Edits is Instagram's Reels editor: free, clean export, a multi-track timeline with keyframes, one-tap captions, tagged audio, a teleprompter camera and your Insights. Ten rounds, an honest score, who should pick which - and a note on Filmr's ownership and update pace.
Filmr's pitch is fun capture and fast sharing: shoot both cameras at once, drop a track, post to five apps. It still does that well. But for Reels it's a watermark you pay to remove, a single-track timeline, text you type by hand, no Instagram audio tag and no analytics - and the app's update pace has slowed under a new developer listing. Edits is free, exports clean, captions in a tap, tags the audio, films with a teleprompter and shows you retention afterwards. Two rounds to Filmr for the things it does that Edits doesn't; seven to Edits for everything a Reel actually needs.
Moving over is quick - the switching section covers what maps to what.
Scored for a creator making Reels. If what you want is a toy camera that posts to five apps and the watermark doesn't bother you, Filmr is fine - but that isn't the comparison most people searching this are making.
Free, no tiers, no watermark. Optional in-app purchases listed; nothing in the editor is gated. Pricing
Free with a watermark; Pro sold weekly, monthly, yearly and lifetime - roughly $4–10/week, ~$11/month, $40–80/year, ~$170 lifetime, depending which of several listed plans you land on. Confusing by design.
None, ever. No-watermark export
On every free export. Paying removes it. Instagram deprioritises Reels carrying another app's logo.
Multi-track: clips, overlays, text, audio, SFX; trim, split, speed; keyframes for position, scale, rotation, opacity; Project Versions. Keyframes
Single-track trim-and-arrange with text, stickers, filters and preset animations. No keyframes, no overlays to speak of.
Auto captions in one tap, styled, bilingual in 15 languages, automatic lyrics. Auto captions
Text you type and time by hand. No speech-to-text.
Instagram's tagged library, import, Enhance, ducking, loudness match, beat markers. Music & audio
A music library and voiceover. No Instagram tagging, no ducking, no cleanup.
HD→4K, 24–60 fps, HDR/SDR, 10-minute takes, teleprompter, timer, green screen, speed. Camera tools
4K 60 fps, dual-camera, AR characters, boomerang, slow/fast motion. Different strengths, both good.
Speed and green screen in camera; the playful stuff lives in AI effects after the fact. AI effects
Dual-camera recording (front and back at once), AR characters, boomerang - genuinely fun, and Edits doesn't do them.
Share to Instagram with the audio tag, or export a clean file for anywhere else.
One-tap share to Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, WhatsApp. Convenient if you post everywhere - watermarked unless you pay.
Ideas, Inspiration, Projects, Camera, Insights - retention and comparisons next to the timeline.
Export and leave. No analytics, no ideas, no drafts across devices.
iPhone and Android, updated roughly monthly - 130+ features in year one; desktop announced. Latest updates
iOS, iPadOS, Android. Known as InVideo's app, but the current listing shows a different developer and the last major update was some time ago.

Note: Filmr's listed plans and developer have changed over time - check the App Store or Google Play listing before relying on a price or a feature. Our full take on Edits alone is in the review; the CapCut comparison is here; all head-to-heads in Comparisons.
Nothing to migrate - Filmr projects don't export as projects anywhere. Keep your clips; rebuild the habit.
Edits is free, exports clean, and does captions, audio and camera in the same app.
